Matrix Fitness is the fastest-growing commercial strength brand in the world, powering thousands of Planet Fitness, PureGym, Basic-Fit, Crunch, and Snap Fitness clubs. Yet nearly 80% of gym-goers overlook the smartest feature on every Matrix weight stack: the orange or yellow +2.5 kg (+5 lbs) incremental micro-weight switch.

Why the micro-weight switch is the secret to injury-free progress
On most commercial Matrix weight stacks, the main metal plates jump by 5 kg to 7 kg (10 to 15 lbs). Jumping from 20 kg straight to 27 kg on a Shoulder Press or Bicep Curl is a massive 35% load increase, which ruins form and strains joints. By flipping the +2.5 kg (+5 lbs) micro-dial at the top of the Matrix stack whenever Gym.Coach advances you past 3x12, you bridge the gap between full plates safely.
- Step A: Insert the main pin at 30 kg (65 lbs) with the top dial at 0 -> climb from 3x10 to 3x12.
- Step B: On your next level-up, turn the top dial to +2.5 kg (+5 lbs) -> climb from 3x10 to 3x12 again.
- Step C: Move the main pin down to the next full plate and reset the top micro-dial to 0!
